Shareology was stopped in her tracks this week during her travels through Mall of America.  To the immediate left hand of Hugo Boss was an ad for…………….Boss!  the TV show.  Wouldn’t you just love to be privy to those conversations behind the scenes?  Does MOA tell Hugo Boss what is about to go up next to their store?   Are these ads all over the Mall and Shareology just never noticed?  Ah, so many questions….your thoughts??

Mall of America: Microsoft and More! Fall, 2010 September 14, 2010

Shareology took an educational detour past one of the mobile phone stores this lovely September day at Mall of America.  Turns out there is much more than mobile phones going on at MOA, including the white elephant turning logoland next to Legoland:

Yep, they must be serious: logos have emerged!!

The Microsoft build space on 1st floor South went from the past bright acres of white to the logoland you see above.  More views of the vast retail space about to open this fall (dare we guess October?).

view of Microsoft build towards Nickelodeon Universe

Speaking of Legoland, Microsoft’s neighbor looks like it too is under construction.  In fact, if my premed nephew was still into his lego collection, he could build the entire new store out of legos!!

now that's one empty LegoLand!!

So what else is new and coming at Mall of America???

LuLuLemon is building!!

A brand new concept, The Art of Shaving, is newly open in that round glassy space in the middle of 1st floor West:  (yep, Andy of Mayberry would feel right at home…)

The Art of Shaving

Only 2 more items  but they are hot, hot, hot!!

1.  Hugo Boss is open!!

even Shareology wants to shop at Hugo Boss!!

For this final item, alas Shareology was at MOA about seven hours too early…..but for the rest of you:   at 7 pm on Tuesday, September 14 was:  (alas, Shareology couldn’t make it work!!!)

That’s all Folks!!  Happy fall from Shareology!!

Microsoft at the Mall of America: August Update August 29, 2010

Shareology checked out the build for the new Microsoft store at Mall of America on August 26, 2010; below are a few photos of this LARGE square footage store-to-be.

Please note that the build walls are totally blank:  not a Microsoft logo in sight!!

All the way to Nickelodean Universe!!

The space on first floor South runs from the corner facing Legoland all the way back to Nickelodean Universe!! This is one massive store to be in terms of square footage!

Above is a view of the other side of the store-to-be, facing guess what?

Microsoft's across the hall neighbor? Apple, of course!

Guesstimates of opening are in the October range….  Shareology is gonna grab her lawn chair, the one with pockets on each side for refreshments, set it up under the crystal chandeliers, and watch the fun begin!!  Y’all don’t think Apple is gonna take this quietly do you?

P.S. to Hugo Boss fans:  The store is complete, black lines all the windows (as in “We are not Open for Business quite yet…”)

Microsoft and Mall of America Summer Update July 6, 2010

The Fourth is over:  what to look forward to?  Ah, yes, the luxurification of Mall of America.  Shareology popped in the morning of the 6th, and found that changes on the South Side are proceeding at a fast pace. Microsoft update at end of this post; let’s start with bright shiny objects:  those crystal chandeliers are much more dangley and beautiful than Shareology anticipated!  The marble floors ain’t bad either!

the one by Bloomies......

the one by Victoria's.....

the one Shareology shot straight up....

Yep, Shareology does love her some bright, shiny objects….. Hugo Boss is not open quite yet, but they are hiring:  (gotta love the door panel switch!)

If you didn't get hired at Louis Vuitton, here's your next chance....

For those who want an update on when Microsoft arrives at MOA, a clue is When Baby Gap is vacating for its new space?  That’s July 15 — we’re only one build away after that….. Since both Baby Gap and Gap Kids are heading down the hall to join their Gap relatives, that Microsoft store is looking fairly large in terms of square footage.

New space down the South hall for all the Gap Brands.....

So that sets the stage for the duel to come at MOA between Apple and Microsoft:

Let the games begin!

Gap Kids gives Microsoft a great corner location!

So:  the luxurification of South Side at MOA is happening a lot faster than Shareology anticipated.  You can already walk on marble and have crystals shining in your eyes….and soon, very soon, Microsoft across the hall from Apple!  Now there’s a holiday!

Mall of America Summer Update June 2, 2010

Quick 1-2-3 update from the Mall of America:

One:   Hugo Boss is much closer to reality at MOA:

South Corridor, 1st Floor, Hugo Boss sooooon!

Two:   Shareology was taken with these hats:  I need to adopt a four-year old!

Is it just Shareology,  or do two of those hats seem to be flirting?

Three:  It’s the anniversary of the June 3, 1967 longest home run ever hit in Met Stadium by (who else?) Harmon Killebrew!  He slammed this 520 foot homer into the 2nd deck in left field, and shattered not one but two seats!   Let’s see how this is celebrated:

See that tiny red speck on the grey wall?

The red chair marks the spot that homer landed!

Luxury Buyers… Going to Mall of America or Galleria? April 30, 2010

Last Sunday, April 25, Jackie Crosby had an article in the Strib that really got Shareology thinking.   With the opening of Louis Vuitton in Galleria looming and the redo on Mall of America’s South Side in progress, does Minneapolis St. Paul have enough luxury buyers to support all the luxury retailing opportunities about to be available?

Let’s take a peek at the possibilities:

The above new plans, found posted in the South Side of MOA, include Italian porcelain tile, Swarovski crystal chandeliers, and marble trimmings.  A wall mural reveals current and future MOA offerings (Hugo Boss to open in August):

Turning the South Side of MOA into Luxury Buyers Nirvana is one way to update MOA, unfortunately  as this work is ongoing for the next few months, the current look is more like:

Meanwhile, over at Galleria, retail nirvana includes BCBGMaxAzria and Coach:

Over on the western end of Galleria, Tiffany eagerly awaits the early May opening of its neighbor, Louis Vuitton:

Well, what do YOU think,  dear Shareology reader?  Does the Twin Cities have enough luxury seekers to support both these well-known malls?  Shareology wants to know!
