Shareology is preparing a presentation she is giving in a couple of weeks on Social Media as a Networking Tool.   The slides are prepared and ready to copy.   But (shades of Carrie Bradshaw) she can’t help wondering — what more should she be considering?

Dear Readers:

  • what have been your best experiences using social media as a networking tool?
  • your worst?
  • What tools are your favorite?  LinkedIn?  Facebook?  Twitter? Other?
  • Any key thoughts?

Inquiring minds want to know… well, at least Shareology does……

  1. Kris Olson Says:

I have relied on social media to energize my own career ramp-up. The tools have had their different benefits:
    1) LinkedIn: place to: re-connect, establish initial contact, post my own profile, listen to industry chatter via groups, get updates via the feed
    2) Twitter: stay abreast of what’s going on, maintain relationships
    3) Online community (Ning): get to know others around a shared interest and engage thoughtfully
Nothing earthshattering there — basics, basics!
